Nutley Update on COVID-19

The Township of Nutley is providing an update to the community on several important matters, including:

  • Total COVID-19 cases in Nutley
  • Commissioner Meeting Today
  • Outdoor dining and non-essential retail can resume June 15
  • Other updates

COVID-19 Total Cases 
The Township of Nutley announced their being a total of 499 cases and 34 deaths.

Commissioner Meeting Today
The next Board of Commissioners meeting will take place Thursday, June 4, 2020 at 7:00pm via Zoom Webinar. There will be no physical site location for the meeting. Members of the public may participate by utilizing the following access:

Outdoor Dining and Non-Essential Retail Can Re-Open June 15
Governor Murphy issued an Executive Order permitting outdoor dining starting on Monday, June 15th. Establishments will be required to follow a number of COVID-19 health and safety protocols issued by the Department of Health, including a limit of eight customers per table, and requirements of at least six feet of distance between parties. In addition, for as long as indoor dining is not permitted, food or beverage establishments are required to prohibit smoking in any outdoor areas designated for the consumption of food and/or beverages. In addition, Governor Murphy announced that non-essential retail may reopen on Monday, June 15, 2020. As part of the reopening, businesses:

  • Must limit the number of customers in stores to 50 percent capacity
  • Customers and employees are required to wear face coverings
  • Areas used by employees need to be regularly sanitized, among other safeguards

If you need emotional support or are feeling anxiety or worry due to the COVID-19 pandemic, you can call the NJ Mental Health Cares number at 1-866-202-HELP (4357). It is staffed with a live mental health specialist 7 days a week, 8 am-8 pm.

Locally, the Nutley Family Service Bureau is accepting referrals and can be reached by calling 973-667-1884.
