Police Director Alphonse Petracco and Chief Thomas Strumolo are advising Township residents that the township was subjected to a series of auto burglaries early this morning in the South West area of Nutley including Hastings, Mount Vernon, Columbia and Van Winkle. 

With the assistance of an alert resident at 2:15 this morning, Police were able to respond and apprehend three Irvington men responsible for the Burglaries.

19 y/o Jahson Lawson was charged with Burglary while 21 y/o Taj Martino and 18 y/o Jermaine Moody were charged with Conspiracy to commit the same crime.

Chief Strumolo reminds residents that by securing their vehicles and removing valuables will help deter these criminals from coming to Nutley to commit these crimes of opportunity.

Although we were fortunate to apprehend these three men, there are others that will take advantage of unlocked vehicles.

All Parties are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. This release is for public notification that an incident occurred and the Nutley Police responded.  All parties mentioned in Police Bulletins are only accused of the preceding allegations.
