Reckitt, the manufacturer of Lysol, Mucinex and other well-known brands, recently announced a $600 million, multi-year transformation of its U.S. operations across two sites to accelerate the long-term growth of its U.S. business. Investments will include relocation and integration of its commercial and R&D capabilities into the ON3 campus in Nutley and significantly expanded plans for its largest over-the-counter (OTC) manufacturing facility in North Carolina.
“Another win for Nutley,” Mayor John V. Kelly III says. “The Reckitt expansion reflects the kind of economic growth and investment that Commissioner Petracco, my fellow Commissioners, the Redevelopment Committee, and I have worked to bring to Nutley.”
These phased investments aim to fast-track innovation, sharpen responsiveness to evolving consumer needs, and strengthen supply resilience to ensure reliable access to essential healthcare products. Reckitt employs more than 4,000 employees at seven manufacturing sites and three science and innovation centers across the United States.
“This is a great move for Reckitt and Nutley,” Commissioner Alphonse Petracco adds. “We have worked so hard to turn what seemed like a hopeless situation (the Roche move) into something great. Wonderful news for the Township.”
Reckitt recently relocated its North American campus to Nutley to support commercial and operational teams. As the next phase of development, the company will break ground on a new 145,000-square-foot state-of-the-art science and innovation center with best-in-class capabilities in disinfection, microbiology, surface care, laundry care and personal care.
"Reckitt relocating to Nutley joining Eisai Pharmaceuticals, Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine, and the Center of Discovery and Innovation continues to transform the former Roche site into the premier Bio-tech campus in the entire metropolitan area,” said Commissioner Dr. Joseph P. Scarpelli.
This flagship germ protection hub within Reckitt’s global R&D network will be pivotal in advancing Reckitt’s portfolio. At the center of this transformation is a new model for innovation that brings together world-class R&D, advanced scientific capabilities, and commercial expertise to speed the path from concept to shelf.
“We look forward to Reckitt's continued success as they relocate to Nutley,” Commissioner Mauro G. Tucci adds. “and we're excited to see what the future will hold as the company's expansion continues to grow the ON3 campus into a leading business hub right here in Nutley. This is a great thing for medical science and business, happening right in our own backyard.”
“We’re absolutely thrilled to welcome Reckitt to the Nutley Community,” Commissioner Tom Evans stated. “We look forward to a great long-term relationship in town.”
