The National Weather Service advises that the Nor’easter will continue to impact our area today and into tonight, bringing strong winds and periods of moderate to heavy rainfall. Northeastern New Jersey remains under a Wind Advisory through this morning.

PLEASE USE CAUTION & AVOID UNNECESSARY TRAVEL

Residents are strongly encouraged to avoid unnecessary travel and stay home if possible, particularly while the strongest winds and heavier bands of rain are moving through the area.

The National Weather Service is forecasting northeast winds of 20–30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph in the Wind Advisory area. Numerous downed tree limbs and scattered downed trees are possible, and power outages are likely.

Additional periods of moderate to heavy rain will continue through tonight. The storm may produce urban, poor-drainage and small-stream flooding, with isolated flash flooding possible.

 Residents should:

  • Stay home and avoid unnecessary travel whenever possible.
  • Secure or bring inside umbrellas, garbage cans, patio furniture and other loose outdoor objects.
  • Never drive through flooded roadways. Turn around and find another route.
  • Stay away from downed trees and wires.
  • Always assume a downed wire is LIVE. Never touch or approach it.
  • Be prepared for possible power outages and keep phones and essential devices charged.
  • Use 911 for emergencies only.

Conditions may change throughout the day. Please continue to monitor official Township and National Weather Service updates.

 Stay safe, Nutley.
