Commissioner Alphonse Petracco and the Nutley Department of Public Safety invite the community to join together in solemn remembrance as we mark the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

A remembrance ceremony will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the September 11th Monument located in front of Nutley Township Hall.

Residents are invited to join Township officials, the families and friends of the victims, members of the clergy, first responders, and members of our community as we honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost on September 11, 2001.

On this significant anniversary, Nutley remembers in a special way the three members of our own community who lost their lives that day:

Their lives, along with all those taken from us on September 11th, will forever remain in our hearts and in the memory of our community.

An Evening of Remembrance

In addition to the morning ceremony, Township residents are asked to join in a town-wide tribute of remembrance by placing a lighted candle on their front porch or an electric candle in a window between 8:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. on September 11th.

Residents are also encouraged to proudly display an American flag in front of their homes throughout the day as a symbol of remembrance, unity, resilience, and our enduring gratitude for those who answered the call to serve.

Commissioner Petracco asks that, as a community, we continue to honor the lives lost, remember the families whose lives were forever changed, and recognize the extraordinary courage and sacrifice of our first responders.
