Commissioner Mauro G. Tucci & The Department of Parks & Recreation Announce Fall Senior Activities & Programs

Commissioner Mauro G. Tucci is excited to welcome local seniors back for a full schedule of activities, classes, clubs, and special events this fall. With a variety of opportunities to stay active, creative, and connected, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Senior Exercise Classes

Seniors can keep moving and have fun with a variety of exercise classes offered throughout the week:

  • Tap Class: Mondays, 4:00–4:45 p.m. (Class Begins September 14, 2026)
  • Zumba Gold: Wednesdays, 10:00–10:45 a.m. (Class Begins September 16, 2026)
  • Chair Yoga: Thursdays, 10:15–11:00 a.m. (Clas Begins September 17, 2026)

Senior Memoirs and Reflections

Share memories, stories, and experiences with others during Senior Memoirs and Reflections, held Tuesdays from 9:00–10:00 a.m. This welcoming class provides an opportunity to reflect, write, and connect through personal stories and memories.

Senior Club Returns September 9

The Senior Club will resume on Wednesday, September 9 at 12:00 p.m. The club offers seniors an opportunity to socialize, participate in activities, and enjoy time together throughout the year.

The club will also welcome a new president, Lorraine De Santi, who looks forward to helping lead the club and create new opportunities for members.

Senior Art Club

For those looking to explore their creative side, the Senior Art Club meets on Mondays at 1:30 p.m. at 44 Park Avenue, Room 300. Members can enjoy time creating, learning, and connecting with fellow art enthusiasts.

Annual Senior Picnic

One of the highlights of the fall calendar is the Annual Senior Picnic, taking place on Thursday, September 24 at 12:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 per person and can be purchased at the Nutley Parks & Recreation office or online through the Community Pass registration system.

Healthy Bones

Stay strong, steady, and confident with this free exercise and education program! Designed to help prevent and manage osteoporosis, the program combines strength training, balance, and flexibility exercises in a welcoming, supportive environment. It’s a great opportunity to improve your strength, mobility, and overall well-being while connecting with others in the community.

“We are excited to offer our seniors such a wonderful variety of programs this fall,” stated Commissioner Tucci. “From fitness classes and creative activities to the Senior Club and our annual picnic, these programs provide great opportunities for our senior residents to stay active, make connections, and enjoy time together.”
