Following the reading, Mayor Kelly presented Ms. Soobrattie with the Township’s Cultural Inclusion Diversity Award.

“Thank you; this is an unexpected honor,” Soobrattie said. “It is a pleasure being the ESL teacher at Nutley High School. I see great things at Nutley High School. Not only are we diverse, but we're really integrated. The kids work together. I see non-ESL kids working with ESL kids. I just see the kids really getting along. It makes me so happy to be there. Thank you so much for this award.”

“We all thank you for all of your efforts to build bridges rather than tear them down and create an inclusive community that's representative of everyone in Nutley,” Mayor Kelly stated.
