ROAD CONSTRUCTION NOTIFICATION - Bloomfield Avenue (High Street - Raymond Avenue)

Commissioner Dr. Joseph P. Scarpelli would like to notify residents of an upcoming roadway improvement project that may impact Township residents. This notification is being provided to inform residents of the scope of work and to help maintain safety throughout the community during construction activities. The Township’s goal is to minimize disruptions to residents while completing the work as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Beginning on or about Monday, May 4, 2026, weather permitting, the Township’s contractor, DLS Contracting, and its subcontractor, Cifelli & Son Inc., will begin upgrading select curbs, sidewalks, and driveway aprons along the above roadway. Work is expected to take place Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Please note that the schedule is subject to change due to weather conditions or other unforeseen delays. Residents are asked to adhere to all posted NO PARKING signs that will be placed along the roadway indicating scheduled work dates and hours of operation.

TRAFFIC IMPACTS:

  • Roadway will be closed during construction hours;
  • NO vehicular traffic will be permitted on roadway during work hours;
  • Due to nature of the work, there may be delays as equipment is moved;
  • If posted, please follow all specified detour routes and Parking restrictions;
  • Traffic delays are expected – please plan alternate routes.

RESIDENT IMPACTS:

  • Street closures during construction hours for vehicles;
  • NO vehicular traffic will be permitted on roadway during work hours;
  • Entry and Exit to/from Driveways will not be permitted during work hours;
  • Due to nature of the work there may be delays as equipment is moved;
  • Please park all vehicles on side streets outside of work zone if needed during work hours;
  • Contact the Nutley Police Department regarding overnight parking restrictions.

PEDESTRIAN IMPACTS

  • Pedestrian walkway access may be limited during construction period;
  • We ask that when accessing these areas you use extreme caution.
  • We appreciate your cooperation and thank you for your patience while we rebuild Nutley’s infrastructure.
