Record Numbers Turn Out for 2023 Welcome to Nutley Day

For the fifth year, the Township of Nutley hosted the Welcome to Nutley Day event at Nichols Park last week. The annual event invited students, staff members and supporters from the ON3 project to meet and greet representatives from local businesses.

“What a turnout,” Nutley Mayor Joseph P. Scarpelli stated proudly. “I think we had over 1,000 guests come through the park. I know our DPW table went through 500 Greennutley bags in the first hour alone.” The mayor attributed the record attendance to moving the event from a Friday to a Wednesday. “Even though we have had great turnouts in the past, we learned that Wednesday was ON3’s busiest day of the week. The switch more than doubled the number of attendees visiting our businesses.”

Just across the street from ON3, Nichols Park was bustling, with close to 30 local vendors’ table tops filled with great food and giveaways. DJ Rob Frannicola entertained the guests from such ON3 companies as Eisai Pharmaceuticals, the Seton Hall University (IHS) Interprofessional Health Sciences Campus, Modern Meadow, Ralph Lauren, the Hackensack Meridian Health Center for Discovery and Innovation, and Prism Capital Partners.

“We are extremely happy that this event is growing more and more each year,” Scarpelli added. “It gives us the opportunity to not only welcome the occupants of ON3, but also introduce them to all the great restaurants, businesses and services our great Township has to offer. As always, special thanks to all our Township Departments who made this such a special event.”
