Police Advisory (Stolen BMW) - March 2, 2022

Nutley Police Director Alphonse Petracco and Chief Thomas Strumolo are advising that another vehicle was stolen early yesterday morning from Walnut St. Police were called to the 400 Block of Walnut St when the caller woke to find their 2021 BMW X5 Stolen. They reported that they accidentally left the key fob inside the car and woke to find it missing.

Chief Strumolo said there has been a significant increase in auto thefts throughout New Jersey as well as Nutley. He said a big part of it is that thieves learned that many people leave their key fob in the vehicle when not in use.

Director Petracco said as long as we continue leaving our doors unlocked with the keys inside, car thieves will continue shopping in town.
