Not Just “Any Peach” ... a Jersey Fresh Peach! - Come down to the Farmers Market for our annual party celebrating the Jersey Peach in conjunction with the NJ Peach Promotion Council.

This year’s Peach Party will feature a Perfect Peach Pie Baking Contest, raffle, tastings, recipes, and more to celebrate New Jersey’s own locally grown peaches.

Peach Pie Contest
Amateur bakers of any age are invited to compete in the Perfect Peach Pie Baking Contest sponsored by the New Jersey Peach Promotion Council. Bakers should deliver their peach pie or cobbler and printed recipe to the Greenutley table at the Market between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 7 where they will complete a short registration form including name, email address, phone number, and recipe title. Entries can also be submitted in advance by emailing the information to greenutley@nutleynj.org or by visiting the Greenutley table at the July 31 Nutley Farmers Market or Nutley Department of Public Affairs (149 Chestnut Street, Nutley).

Among our panel of local pie connoisseurs who will judge entries are John Lee of Taste of Montclair and Black Tie & Flip Flops as well as Nutley Mayor Dr. Joseph P. Scarpelli. The judges will begin tasting pies at 11:00 a.m. and one winner will be announced after the tastings and deliberation conclude. Market patrons will also have the opportunity to taste pies!

The winner selected by the judges will go on to compete for a $300 grand prize in a second round of judging (date and northern NJ location to be announced) awarded by the New Jersey Peach Promotion Council. The grand prize winner will also have his or her recipe published by the Council on their website jerseypeaches.com and in related communications.
