Public Works / Water Department
1 Cortland Street
Nutley, NJ 07110
The changing color of leaves and the chill in the air remind us that leaf season is approaching. The Public Works Department will have a special leaf bag distribution day on Saturday, October 9th at the Public Works Garage from 8am to 1pm. This will be the only opportunity to receive bags, as the DPW offices were severe damaged during Hurricane Ida and are currently uninhabitable.
Residents will be required to stay in their car and open their trunk to receive the bags. In addition, the DPW will NOT be collecting food for the Nutley Family Service Bureau’s Food Pantry, but urge all residents to help stock the pantry by delivering the food to the NFSB during normal business hours.
“In light of the COVID-19 pandemic we are making this year’s leaf bag distribution contactless. I am also asking residents to help stock the NFSB’s Food Pantry. Canned goods, cereal, peanut butter, pasta, and rice are all needed and can be delivered directly to the NFSB at 165 Chestnut Street in the containers in the rear of the building. If DPW offices can be occupied in the near future we will send out another notification of those changes.
Leaves and all other vegetation will be picked up on Wednesdays by Basso Sanitation through December 15th. Vegetation must be placed in brown bio-degradable bags or in a container. Plastic bags will not be accepted.
