NJ State Library and the NJ Division of Taxation will be sponsoring a program addressing the following:
We want your small business to be successful! The first step is a business plan, registration, and reporting business income. In this seminar, new business owners or potential business owners learn how to properly register a small business with the State of New Jersey and definitions of the different business structures. Once a business earns money, business income is reported to New Jersey. This program will explain the flow of income and how it is reported from the business to the individual.
Small businesses may be required to collect and remit certain New Jersey business taxes. If your business is going to have employees, you have tax obligations to the State of New Jersey. This seminar gives small business employers an overview of their filing responsibilities and how to withhold tax for their New Jersey employees.
New Jersey has a sales tax rate of 7%. This seminar gives a general understanding of New Jersey Sales and Use tax law and filing requirements. We also discuss use and/or accepting New Jersey Sales and Use Tax exemption certificates.
The program is scheduled for Thursday, November 3rd from 1 pm to 4:30 pm and it will be held in the Stockton Room which is one the first floor of the library. People must register by Friday, October 28th so we can plan for refreshments. An online registration form available on the Library website at nutleypubliclibrary.org/businessworkshop to make it easier to signup for the program. This is the preferred way however phone registrations will also be accepted by calling 973-667-0405 x2604, or in person registrations at the reference desk.
