Junior Lacrosse Registration Begins
Commissioner Mauro G. Tucci has opened registration for the 2012 Lacrosse Season. Lacrosse is considered one of the fastest growing team sports in the U.S. This exhilarating sport combines basketball, soccer and hockey all in one. But maybe the best incentive to join is that there is no prior experience necessary to participate in this growing sport. “Along with learning the basic fundamentals of the sport you will also begin to develop speed, coordination and agility” states Commissioner Mauro G. Tucci.
This program is open to Nutley Residents in grades 3 through 8. The Nutley Department of Parks and Recreation will be holding Registration on Wednesday, January 18, 2012, 7:00p.m. at the Recreation Department (Room 300), 44 Park Ave.
Head Coach and Founder Corey Slicklen has been involved in Lacrosse for 44 years. He is a four time All Division, All League Captain at St. Mary’s High School in Manhasset, NY. Youngsters interested in participating must provide their own certified helmet, stick and mouth guard. The league will supply gloves, pads and shirts. A fee of $40.00 per person will be payable at the time of registration or online at www.NutleyNj.org.
Come out and join this fast growing sport. Volunteers are always needed to assist the Department of Parks & Recreation along with the coaches. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact the department at (973)284-4966, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
