Commissioner Mauro G. Tucci, Director of the Department of Parks and Recreation announced that PSE&G has begun an Energy Audit of all Municipal Buildings in the Township of Nutley. PSE&G provides a free energy audit of eligible facilities and a report of recommended energy savings improvements. Approximately 40 buildings will be evaluated including the Parks & Recreation Department, Town Hall, Public Safety Building, Public Affairs, Library, First Aid Squad, Red Cross among numerous others. “This program is the logical first step of a multi-phased approach to making Nutley one of the greenest communities in the State of New Jersey” stated Commissioner Tucci .
The PSE&G Energy Efficiency Economic Stimulus Initiative Program will initially provide 100% of the cost to install improvements. Upon completion of the work the municipality will repay 20% of the total cost, either in a lump sum or over 2 years, interest free on their energy bill. “We have the opportunity for up to a 30% savings and for what we control that could be upward of $120,0000.00 savings” stated Commissioner Mauro G. Tucci. Typical eligible measures will include improvements to lighting and heating as well as air conditioning upgrades.
This program is a means for reviewing and evaluating municipal facility design options for a more efficient and sustainable use of energy. This free energy audit is the perfect resource to help our community achieve long-term sustainability. Taking steps to conserve energy and use energy more efficiently, while also developing renewable resources, will reduce the environmental impacts of our energy use.
