NJ Governor Jon Corzine will be in Nutley at Town Hall at Noon on Wednesday, July 19th to sign the Mike Geltrude Bill into law. Everyone is encouraged to attend ~ and bring your children!

This will be the first time Governor Corzine will sign a bill into law at a location outside of Trenton. He will sign the bill in Nutley to honor long-time Nutley resident Mike Geltrude, who died on February 26, 2006 from a deadly form of skin cancer called malignant melanoma. This event is expected to be covered by the major television news networks as well as the print media.

The Mike Geltrude Law will prohibit children under age 14 from using tanning salons and require written parental consent for children between the ages of 14 and 18. The New Jersey Legislature agreed overwhelmingly with the Mike Geltrude Foundation that tanning salons are a contributing factor for the development of skin cancer and are especially dangerous for children.

Please try to attend to show your support for this very important piece of legislation designed to protect our children from the harmful effects of artificial ultraviolet light.
