Alzheimer’s Association Caregiver Support Group Available to Nutley Residents

Nutley, New Jersey – The Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support Group continues to meet the third Wednesday of every month at the Public Affairs Building on 149 Chestnut Street in Nutley at 7:00 pm. The group, which is affiliated with the Alzheimer’s Association Greater New Jersey Chapter, has been meeting since October, 2005.

The Alzheimer’s Association is the world leader in Alzheimer research and support. The Association is committed to providing support assistance and information to individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and their families or care partners. It is estimated that there are currently more than 350,000 individuals and their care partners in New Jersey who are struggling to cope with the challenge of Alzheimer’s disease. Local programs and services for these individuals include: education and training, support groups, respite assistance and a 24 hour, toll- free telephone Help Line.

Mayor Cocchiola encourages local residents who have aging family members at all stages of the disease to participate. “Through our experience at the Department of Public Affairs, we have seen a growing need for assistance to families who are dealing with caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s,” commented the Mayor. “I am pleased to see residents participating in the group and taking advantage of the support of others who are going through similar experiences.”

The Support Group recently hosted Elder Care Attorney Mary Wanderpolo, and promises to have future special guests to lend their support and give valuable advice.
