HOPE - Message from the Director of Public Safety

Commissioner Petracco.jpg Since I have been in office I have been approached by many parents who are facing drug and/or alcohol problems with their children. Being a parent myself I can understand the fear and despair these parents must be feeling and would like to offer my help in some way.

With the above in mind I have established a committee in 2009 entitled “H.O.P.E.” Helping our Parents Endure which is a collective effort of concerned parents and township residents who can offer help to those parents in need of guidance and support. Many programs and efforts are available for the drug/alcohol afflicted individual/s but it is necessary to address and help the parents, guardians and friends of young people with very serious problems.

Please look at our website as a total resource guide that can answer many of your questions. We will be continuing to send out our weekly newsletters and have just showcased our new video series HOPE Speaks. Both the newsletters and the video will be on the website.

Should you have any questions or concerns or just need to talk, please feel free to call the HOPE for Nutley line at 973-284-4928.  All call are confidential.

With warm regards,

Commissioner Alphonse Petracco
Director of Public Safety
