Trash Removal Service
Trash should be placed curbside in a covered container(s) no earlier than 6pm on the evening preceeding regular pick up.

Bulk items
Furniture, mattresses, box springs, rugs will be picked up ONCE A WEEK in accordance with the following schedule:

Items that require advance notice are:
Refrigerators, Dehumidifiers, Air Conditioners, Freezers, Washers/Dryers, Stoves, all other appliances and anything made of metal.

Call the Department of Public Affairs Office at 284-4976 or click here to send an e-mail, by Wednesday at 2:00PM for Thursday Pickup. Please remove doors from refrigerators/freezers.

NOTICE TO BUYERS AND SELLERS OF HOMES

The Township is not responsible for, and cannot, accommodate, the removal of excessive amounts of bulk items left curbside when residents move in or out of their homes.

Although the Township ordinance provides for bulk pick up on required days, the definition of bulk does not contemplate the disposal of entire contents of homes and basements left at curbside.

Please contact Joseph Petti (973 284-4974), Health Inspector, who will assist with information regarding waste management companies to provide containers.

Tree limbs and branches
Loose wood, brush, tree limbs and branches should be cut into four-foot lengths and tied in bundles weighing no more that fifty (50) pounds each.

Carpeting
Cut, rolled and tied in 4 lengths.

Grass clippings/yard debris
If the homewoner chooses to cut and bag his own grass clippings and yard debris, they can be put out with the regular garbage, 5-6 bags at a time.  If using a landscape, removal is the responsiblity of the landscaper.

Leaves
Homeowners are required to put leaves at curbisde in biodegradable bags.  From October 15 to December 15 bags will be picked up by the Department of Public Works.  At all other times, bagged leaves will be picked up on your garbage days.  As per Township Ordinance, landscapers removing leaves must be licensed by the Township.

The folowing items are NOW recycled:

Computers, Monitors, Printers, Television and Microwave Ovens - Items will be picked up on Mondays.  Residents must call the Department of Public Works at 973-284-4984.

Corregated Cardboard - All non waxed coated cardboard is to be cut into 18 inch pieces and put out with your weekly recycling.

The following WILL NOT be collected:

  • Oil based paint, industrial waste, hazardous waste, liquid waste, laboratory and pathological waste. For information on recycling, click here.
  • Building materials and rubble, including cement, earth, stones and asphalt, resulting from construction, remodeling, repair and demolition operations on residential or commercial buildings, pavements, or other structures.
  • Tree trunks, large tree limbs, tree stumps, uprooted shubs, bushes and other large plantings and any waste materials resulting from operations by landscape contractors.

There will be NO TRASH COLLECTION on the following holidays:

  • New Year's Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day
