Police –School Partnership
Junior Police Academy: Coordinated program for 6th, 7th and 8th grade students who learn the principals of law enforcement.
U.S.S. Sea Scout Program: Military influenced program for junior high/high students that exposes them to all aspects of military life.
Safety Committee: Created in response to community concerns regarding resident safety measures.
Drug Summit Initiative: A joint effort between the Department of Public Safety and the Board of Education to address and identify drug issues present in the High and Junior High schools.
Gang Awareness Committee: Members of the Department of Public Safety and the Board of Education convene to discuss preventative efforts to curtail gang infiltration in the township.
School Resource Officer: Juvenile officers patrol the interiors and exteriors of the High and Junior High schools. This surveillance helps to control adverse juvenile behavior.
Community Policing Initiatives
Neighborhood Watch: Residents assigned to “watch” their neighborhoods. Meeting held periodically to discuss crime trends and behavior.
Home Security Surveys: Police personnel provide security analysis of homes and apartments.
Domestic Violence Intervention Team: A group of trained individuals who are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to assist domestic abuse victims.
DARE: A drug prevention program primarily geared to six grade students.
Finger Print Program for Teachers and Government Employees and Coaches: Fingerprinting is provided to those individuals in need of this service for any governmental position, coaches and any other individual in need of official fingerprinting services.
I-Dent-A-Card for Children: An identification card for children that can be used in the event of an abduction or missing child crime.
Child Car Seat Safety: Program designed to help parents install car seats safely in cars. Residents come to police station where they are instructed by a trained police officer on the correct and safe installation of a car seat.
Police Auxiliary
Trained auxiliary members provide traffic control for church services as well as assist in traffic and crowd control for all township events.
