Municipal Alliance
The Municipal Alliance to Prevent Alcoholism and Drug Abuse, initiated in 1989, exemplifies a public/private partnership to prevent alcoholism and drug abuse at the community action level. The Alliance is funded by penalties incurred from drug-related offenses called Drug Enforcement and Demand Reduction funds, and is administered by Essex County.

The Nutley Municipal Alliance chaired by Mayor Joanne Cocchiola, collaborates with the Nutley Board of Education, the Nutley Police Department, the Nutley Municipal Court, local civic associations, treatment facilities, The CHAMP Program, as well as other organizations and Nutley citizens.

The mission of the Nutley Municipal Alliance Committee is to:

  • encourage responsible decision making by our youth and parents, especially as it relates to drugs and alcohol;
  • educate our youth and parents about drug and alcohol abuse; through a variety of programs and activities

As our program for the upcoming school year is finalized, information on the programs will be listed on this website, as well as official notifications of scheduled Municipal alliance meetings.
