Q: Municipal Court - When are court sessions held at Municipal Court?
A: Court Sessions are held on Wednesdays. Our hours of operation are from 8:00am to 4:00pm.

Q: Public Works - When is garbage picked up?
A: Garbage pickup is regulated by the Health Department - call 973.284.4976.
Q: Public Works - When and how do I put out my recycling?
A: Recycling is picked up the day after your first garbage day: at curbside, co-mingled (glass, metal, plastic) in container weighing no mor than 35 pounds. Paper to be in separate container or tied in a 12 inch bundle no more than 35 pounds.
Q: Public Works - Is the water tested?
A: Water testing is done twice a month throughout the town including the well water. Testing is mandated by State Law. A yearly report is mailed to all residents.
Q: Public Works - When do I put out my leaves?
A: As of 2005, all leaves are to be placed in bio-degradable bags and placed at the curb from October 15th through December 15th and will be picked up by the Department of Public Works. Any other time, leaves will be picked up on your garbage day. (Loose leaves are not to be placed in the street as mandated by town ordinance)
Q: Public Works - When will my street be plowed?
A: When a major snow storm occurs, the main streets are plowed first for emergency vehicle access, then all other streets. Our fleet of plows and salters allows us to clear many streets at he same time. It is our desire to clear all streets quickly, efficiently, and with the least inconvenience to our residents.
Q: Public Works - What happens if my sewer backs up?
A: Call the Department of Public Works at 973.284.4984 from 7:30am to 4:00pm. After 4pm, weekends and holidays, contact the Police Dept. at 973.284.4940. The Public Works Department can inspect sewer lateral with the use of a video camera to determine the problem. Note that there is a charge for this service.
