Q1. When is my garbage picked up?
A. Garbage pickup is regulated by the Health Department call 973-284-4976.

Q2. When and how do I put out my recycling?
A. Recycling is picked up the day after your first garbage day: at curb side: co-mingled (glass, metal, plastic) in container weighing no more than 35 pounds. paper to be in separate container or tied in a 12" bundle no more than 35 pounds.

Q3. When do I put out my leaves?
A. As of 2005 all leaves are to be placed in bio-degradable bags and placed at the curb from October 15 thru December 15 and will be picked up by the Department of Public Works. Any other time the leaves will be picked up on your garbage day. ( LOOSE LEAVES ARE NOT TO BE PLACED IN THE STREET; AS MANDATED BY TOWN ORDINANCE. )

Q4. When will my street be plowed?
A. When a major snow storm occurs the main streets are plowed first for emergency vehicle access, then all other streets. Our fleet of plows and salters allows us to clear many streets at the same time. It is our desire to clear all streets quickly efficiently and with the least inconvenience to our residents.

Q5. What happens if my sewer backs up?
A. Call the Department Public Works at 973-284-4984  during the hours of 7:30AM - 4:00PM. After 4:00PM, weekends and holidays, contact the Police Department at 973-284-4940. The Public Works Department can inspect the sewer lateral with the use of a video camera to determine the problem. ( There is a charge for this service.)

Q6. Is the water tested?
A. Water testing is done twice a month throughout the town including the well water. Testing is mandated by State Law. A yearly report mailed to all residents.
