Mauro G. Tucci
Commissioner Mauro G. Tucci is an experienced public servant who has served on the Nutley Board of Commissioners since 2000. Under his direction, the Parks & Public Property Department has made numerous improvements to Nutley’s parks and athletic fields while greatly expanding the recreational programs available to township residents.
A graduate of Rutgers University with a degree in Urban Studies, Mauro’s professional background is community planning and public works management. He is currently the Township Manager of neighboring Belleville, as well as co-owner of Nutley Pool & Spa, a local business specializing in swimming pools, spas and billiards. Mauro has previously served as Director of the Essex County Division of Housing and Community Development, as Director of Montclair Public Works, and as Township Administrator in Bloomfield.
Volunteer service has always been an important part of Mauro’s life. He is dedicated to helping the disabled as Chair of the Northwest Essex Community Healthcare Network, which provides counseling and job training for the mentally and physically disabled. He also served as Chair of the Suburban Essex Joint Insurance Fund, which manages insurance and reduces costs for seven municipal bodies, including Nutley. When he served as Chair of the Essex County Utilities Authority, Mauro saved several million dollars for Essex County residents by renegotiating waste disposal contracts. In the past, he has also served on the Nutley Shade Tree Commission and as co-chair of the Nutley Family Service Bureau Charity Ball. Mauro is a member of several local organizations, including Nutley UNICO, the Nutley Chamber of Commerce, the Nutley Elks, and the Knights of Columbus.
Mauro and his wife, Linda, have four grown children – Mauro Jr., Gina, Josephine and Gerard.
